The MACHO Project LMC Variable Star Inventory : IV . New R Coronae Borealis
We report the discovery of two new R Coronae Borealis (RCB) stars in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) using the MACHO project photometry database. The identiication of both stars has been connrmed spectroscopically. One is a cool RCB star (T eff 5000 K) characterized by very strong Swan bands of C 2 and violet bands of CN, and weak or absent Balmer lines, G-band and 12 C 13 C bands. The second ...
متن کاملThe First Known Mira - type Variable Star in IC 1613
King, Modjaz, & Li (1999) discovered Nova 1999 in IC 1613 at Lick Observatory. Both Fugazza et al. (2000) and Borissova et al. (2000) questioned this classification, because they were able to detect the star on images obtained in previous years. In infrared frames taken on Oct. 15, 1998, the Nova 1999 has (J −K) = 1.14 and K = 14.69 mag. Our light curve study, based primarily on 92 unfiltered L...
متن کاملA New Type of Extremely Metal Poor Star
We present an abundance analysis for the extremely metal poor star HE1424−0241 based on high dispersion spectra from HIRES at Keck. This star is a giant on the lower red giant branch with [Fe/H] ∼ −4.0 dex. Relative to Fe, HE1424−0241 has normal Mg, but it shows a very large deficiency of Si, with ǫ(Si)/ǫ(Fe) ∼ 1/10 and ǫ(Si)/ǫ(Mg) ∼ 1/25 that of all previously known extremely metal poor giants...
متن کاملnumerical simulation and experimental study on a new type of variable-rate fluidic sprinkler
due to the complex structure of the pressure-adjusting device used in most sprinklersfor variable irrigation, it is not possible to observe the flow behavior of the water passingthrough the flow field. in this paper, an integral three dimensional (3d) numerical modelbased on the structural characteristics of the fluidic sprinkler was constructed to simulatethe flow field distribution using comp...
